Ellie Boyadzhieva is Associate professor and the current Head of the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies at the South-West University “Neofit Rilsky” in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. Having graduated in Slavic philology with major Czech language and literature and English language as minor from St. Kliment Ohridsky University of Sofia, she speaks fluently four languages: Bulgarian, Czech, Russian and English. At present she teaches courses on General linguistics, Text linguistics, Semantics, English morphology and syntax and Cultural studies. She is a member and former President of the Bulgarian English Teachers’ Association (BETA) and a member of the International Association of the Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL). Her research interests and publications include intercultural pragmatics, sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, second language acquisition and the interrelation between culture and language, as well as the influence of culture on the educational systems in different socio-cultural environments.
