Mark O. Huising

Mark O. Huising is an Associate Professor of Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior and Physiology and Membrane Biology at UC Davis. His group studies how alpha, beta and delta cells within pancreatic islets communicate with each other and integrate signals from the central and peripheral nervous system, gastro-intestinal tract, liver, skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. His group discovered a distinct population of 'virgin' beta cells and is pursuing the plasticity they represent to establish how islets cells establish and maintain their identity.
