Dr. Rodrigo Basco is an Associate Professor and Chairholder of Sheikh Saoud bin Khalid bin Khalid Al-Qassimi Chair in Family Business at The American University of Sharjah (United Arab Emirates). Before joining AUS, Dr. Basco held a Post-Doc position at Witten Institute for Family Business, University of Witten/Herdecke (Germany). His major research focuses on the field of entrepreneurship, management and regional development with special interest in family firms. He has taught in the areas of economics, management, and family business in the universities in Spain, Chile and Germany. The results of his research have been published in international academic journals such as Family Business Review, European Management Journal, Journal of Management & Organization, and International Small Business Journal among others. He recently edited a special issue on the topic “Family Business and Regional Development” in Journal of Family Business Strategy. He is a member of the Editorial Board in several leading journals. He was a visiting researcher at The University of Edinburgh (Scotland) and at Jonkoping International Business School (Centre for Family Enterprise and Ownership) (Sweden).
