Arkaitz Zubiaga

I'm an assistant professor at the University of Warwick. I'm broadly interested in leveraging online data (social media, web, open data) to model, track and understand real world phenomena. My recent research has studied use of social media data in the context of journalism for different purposes such as newsgathering, news reporting and analytics. I've also researched other social phenomena such as independence movements, and analysed different demographic groups in social media, with a particular interest in minorities and minorised groups. My work involves research in computational social science, social media mining and natural language processing, amplified by an interdisciplinary perspective involving social sciences such as journalism, sociology and psychology.
