Andreas Modlmeier

Bio

Individual behavioral variation can have profound implications for a population’s stability, its capacity to speciate rapidly, and its interactions with other species, yet most studies disregard individual variation in behavior as mere noise and instead only consider population or species means. My research program focuses on understanding the causes and effects of intraspecific behavioral variation in animal societies. Specifically, my research explores topics such as the evolution of sociality and how individual variation influences species interactions.
