Kah-Hui Wong received her Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology degree (Honours with Distinction) from the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2003, and the MSc (with distinction) and PhD degrees from the same university in 2007 and 2011, respectively, in the field of neuroscience and medical biotechnology. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine at University of Malaya, teaching human anatomy (Gross Anatomy and Histology) to the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Master of Clinical Surgery and Biomedical Sciences candidates.
She is also the Research Coordinator in the Department of Anatomy, a Committee Member for Research Grant Monitoring and Evaluation in the Faculty of Medicine, the Treasurer of the Malaysian Anatomical Association and an academic member of the Malaysian Mushroom Research Association and Alzheimer's Disease Foundation of Malaysia.
Her research focuses on developing the concepts and mechanisms for neuronal regeneration and repair in the peripheral and central nervous systems, investigation of neuroanatomical targets and cerebellar circuit mechanisms in cerebellar ataxia, and functional food for neuroregeneration. The above-mentioned areas are being conducted by two PhD and two MSc candidates funded by MyPhD of the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia (MOHE), Graduate Research Assistantship of UM, Internal Grant of Sunway University and Fundamental Research Grant Scheme of MOHE. She has published 23 articles in ISI-Web of Science indexed journals and three chapters in books pertaining to medicinal mushroom research in collaboration with Mushroom Research Centre of UM headed by Prof. S. Vikineswary.
Her awards and recognitions include the Contributor of Microscopy Images to 2017 Edition of 'Ibidi - Cells in Focus' Calendar (Ibidi Gmbh 2016), Excellence Service Award (2015), First Prize in Poster Presentation at the International Functional Food Conference (2013), Contribution grant award at the 6th International Conference of Medicinal Mushroom, Zagreb, Croatia (2011), Excellence Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Category of PhD Completion Period Less Than 3 Years, University of Malaya (2011) and best poster presentation award at the 3rd International Conference on Health and Longevity Sciences (ICHALS), University of Shizuoka, Japan (2010).
