Cheuk-Kwan Sun (孫灼均) received his M.D. degree from Kaohsiung Medical University (Taiwan) in 1991 and his Ph.D. degree in Physiology at University of Otago (New Zealand) in 2004 after full surgical training as a general surgeon at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan (1991 - 1996). He finished his post-doctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (USA) and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (USA) in 2004 and 2005, respectively, before taking a faculty position as Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (USA) in 2005. He is currently the Head of Department of Medical Research and an Attending Physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at E-Da Hospital (義大醫院), Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He is currently Professor of the School of Medicine for International Students, I-Shou University (義守大學), Kaohsiung, Taiwan. His major clinical interests are general and emergency medicine as well as trauma surgery, whereas his major research interests are stem cell research, cardiovascular and circulatory physiology, translational research in medicine, and interpretation of physiological signals.
