Alessandro A. Carmona-Martínez

I am a former Researcher of IMDEA-Water where I conducted research on Microbial Electrochemical Technologies (MET) to provide solutions for the treatment of municipal wastewater.

Since my B.Sc’s degree I have been working with Biotechnological alternatives for production of energy (i.e.: Hydrogen).

Furthermore, from my M.Sc’s degree in Mexico City I have been conducting research on Microbial fuel cells for direct electricity production from organic liquid wastes, a type of MET.

For my Ph.D. degree I moved to Germany where I conducted research on microbial electron transfer mechanisms between pure/mixed culture electroactive biofilms and electrodes.

Then I moved to France, where I conducted research on microbial electrosynthesis of added value molecules, a novel biotechnological approach to reduce organic waste into molecules of industrial interest.
