Yu Wai Chen


YWC was educated at the Imperial College London. In 1990, he matriculated at Peterhouse, Cambridge and did research at the MRC Centre for Protein Engineering under the supervision of Kim Henrick and Sir Alan Fersht, and was awarded the PhD (Cantab) in 1995. He joined Gary Brayer at University of British Columbia; and subsequently John Collier at Harvard Medical School as postdoctoral fellow from 1994 to 1997. He then moved back to Cambridge and joined the late Max Perutz as a research associate until 2003. He worked with David Glover in Cambridge until 2005, when he moved to King’s College London and took up a lecturer position in the Randall Division of Cell and Molecular Biophysics. He was invited to be a visiting professor of the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005. In 2016, he joined the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a Senior Research Fellow.
