Frank M. Schneider

My main research interests concern media choice, processes, and effects, and methodological issues in different areas of media psychological and communication research—for example,

(a) the relationship between entertainment experiences and (political) information processing and its potential for learning and behavioral change,

(b) online ostracism and the pressure to be always connected in social media environments and its impact on the users’ well-being, and

(c) methodological advances in communication processes and effects studies (e.g., development and validation of measures and methods).

A current project (funded by the German Research Foundation, DFG) I'm working on together with Prof. Dr. Anne Bartsch, University of Leipzig deals with "Political Communication at the Interface of Entertainment and Information. The Impact of Eudaimonic Entertainment Experiences on the Processing and Effects of Political Information."

In 2017 and in 2018, I received the Distinguished Reviewer Award of the Journal of Media Psychology.
