Yoichi Miyake


Yoichi Miyake is a fisheries/biological oceanographer whose research focus is transport of invertebrates (e.g. abalone, spiny lobster) and fishes (e.g. Japanese eel) in early life stages. His recent research interest includes coastal ecosystem dynamics and light pollution. He graduated from the University of Tokyo with a Ph.D. in Agricultural Science. He recently received the 2017 Encouragement Award from the Japanese Society of Fisheries Oceanography (whose international journal is "Fisheries Oceanography") for his work in the recruitment mechanisms and conservation of commercially important species in the coastal waters.
