I am a political scientist based at the University of Manchester, where I am a Research Fellow on the British Election Study. I split my time between Manchester and Oxford, where I am a Research Fellow at Nuffield College, University of Oxford.
My research interests revolve around elections and I have written on political behaviour, political psychology, political parties, the effects of electoral rules, electoral forecasting, referendums, and polling.
My current research focuses on political behaviour and elections in Britain. Together with my British Election Study colleagues I am currently writing a book that examines the increasingly volatile nature of British elections.
My doctoral research focused on Europe and the electoral politics of European integration. I also have a long standing interest in the reasons that governments decide to hold referendums on European integration treaties.
