Benjamin W. Abbott

I am an ecosystem ecologist with an emphasis in biogeochemistry. My work centers on how human disturbance alters carbon and nitrogen transport and transformation in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Specifically, this involves measurement of in situ and laboratory rates of gas production, nutrient turnover, organic matter stability, movement of water, and carbon bioavailability. I am particularly interested in how the co-evolution of landscapes and ecosystems results in broad-scale patterns of biological, hydrological, and geochemical behavior.
