Reza Masoudi Nejad


Reza Masoudi Nejad, graduate student of Mechanical engineering at Ferdowsi university of Mashhad, has been chosen as one of the 10 distinguished reviewers of "Energy Conversion and Management" journal, one of the 3 prominent international journals of Energy and Engineering, by Elsevier publications in February 2015.

I have obtained my B.Sc and M.Sc in the field of mechanical engineering from the best universities of Iran with excellent GPA. Just recently, I have defended my M.Sc thesis entitled as "Rolling contact fatigue analysis under the influence of residual stresses" at Sharif University of Technology. The goal of this project is to predict the crack propagation detail in a railroad wheel in the presence of residual stress induced by manufacturing process and service conditions. A 3-D elastic-plastic finite element analysis, using the software tool is used to estimate the residual stress field and also the superposed alternating rolling contact stresses in a train wheel. The estimated residual stresses are found to be in a good agreement with experimentally measured residual stresses in train wheel. Also, A three-dimensional finite element procedure is developed for analyzing fatigue crack growth in the wheels by using fracture software. Fracture mechanics is used to predict the crack growth life developed from a two-stage fatigue loading cycle where both mechanical loads and thermal loads are present. Since September 2014, I have been a Ph.D. Research Assistant in the School of Mechanical Engineering, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Mashhad, Iran. Specifically, I was engaged in some research projects in the field of mechanical testing, materials characterisation and finite element modeling. As reflected in my resume, outcomes of these activities are published in several Journals as well as several international conferences.
