Julia T. Vilstrup

I am an Evolutionary Biologist with a PhD in ancient DNA and phylogenetics of rodents and equids from the Centre for GeoGenetics, Natural History Museum of Denmark, University of Copenhagen. During my PhD I extracted DNA from tissue, hair, bone/teeth, and blood and used high-throughput next-generation sequencing and capture. In my PostDoc at the USGS Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center at Oregon State University I worked on population genetics of an endangered American species of woodpecker extracting DNA primarily from buccal swabs but also blood and museum tissue. I am now working at Publons with peer reviewer training in Publons Academy.
