Professor of Geophysics, Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly known as University of Missouri-Rolla).
Areas of study: Seismology with emphases on crustal and mantle structure and dynamics using a variety of passive-source seismic techniques including shear-wave splitting, receiver function analyses, seismic tomography, and body-wave attenuation. Also conducted research on spatial and temporal distributions of earthquakes, as well as applications of seismological methods in the oil field.
Education: 1996-98: Postdoctoral research experience at UCLA and the Carnegie Institution of Washington; 1995: PhD in Geophysics and Space Physics, UCLA; 1993: MS in Geophysics and Space Physics, UCLA; 1984: B.S. in Marine Geology and Geophysics, Ocean University of China.
