Eugene's research in computer graphics focuses primarily on developing efficient mathematical models for the way that light scatters from and within skin and hair. Such models are useful for creating realistic virtual characters in realtime (e.g. the NVIDIA Human Head demo) or in film (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Tin Tin, Prometheus, The Hobbit).
