Giorgio Zavarise is Full Professor of Structural Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Salento, where he teaches Structural Mechanics and Computational Mechanics. He previously held the position Associate Professor at the Turin Polytechnic, and of Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Padua (where he graduated in 1986). He has gained considerable experiences abroad, at the University of Hannover and the University of California at Berkeley; offices with which he maintains an intense collaboration. He acts as reviewer for several scientific journals, for the Ministry of Education, the Apulia Region and the German Research Foundation. He is member of the editorial board of the journal Computational Mechanics, and has organized several International Conferences. The research activity is documented by several contributions in scientific journals, monographs and participations in International Congresses, for a total of more than 190 publications. The object of study subjects mainly concerns the Computational Mechanics, applied both to the industrial and civil context.
